Ericsson said it is working with the Libyan Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Holding Company (LPTIC) to deploy the “Ericsson Education” learning program in Libya to develop digital skills for Libyan university students.
Ericsson’s report shows that 150 Libyan students will have access to an e-learning portal that offers courses on 5G networks, the Internet of Things, data science, automation, artificial BroadCast Unitedligence and machine learning.
Libyan students will be able to participate in webinars on emerging and next-generation technologies hosted by Ericsson experts, the report said.
“Ericsson explained that the program is designed to complement students’ technical studies and strengthen their ICT skills to improve their readiness for jobs in the telecommunications and ICT sectors,” the report said.
Faisel Gergab, Chairman of LPTIC, said: “In light of the coronavirus pandemic, distance education programs for Libyan university students have become particularly important, as countries around the world are paying attention to the urgent need for advanced communication technologies. A society that is constantly advancing in knowledge and technology is one that absorbs the changes of the times and is therefore an advanced society that has advanced universities and can easily communicate with the world.”
“The advanced university enables students to conduct advanced scientific research in a variety of fields and use high-precision applications. The collaboration between LPTIC and Ericsson will improve the vital communications and technology sectors, create new investment projects and jobs in the Libyan market, and help position Libya as a global investment destination,” said Gergab.
The report quoted Andrea Missori, Ericsson’s country manager for Libya, as saying: “Education is a key industry, especially affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic, with approximately 1.2 billion students and young people worldwide unable to access traditional educational institutions.”
He added: “There is a huge need for comprehensive online education programs, and partnering with LPTIC means providing students with inclusive learning opportunities that help them navigate this sudden and unprecedented period of disruption while also preparing them for the future.”
Ericsson is shaping the future of mobile broadband Internet communications through its technology leadership and is one of the leading suppliers of information and communications technology to service providers.
