The Regional Judicial and Legal Services Commission (RJLSC) is pleased to announce that the shortlisting exercise for the vacant position of Judge of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) was successfully concluded on 1 March 2024.

The call for applications attracted high-calibre legal professionals from across the Commonwealth, including applicants from the Bahamas, the United Kingdom, Canada, Nigeria, Dominica, Jamaica, Sri Lanka, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.

Of the twelve applications received, four candidates (three women and one man) were shortlisted for further consideration. These candidates are from Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Suriname and Canada. The selection process proceeds to a further stage, which includes written submissions from the shortlisted candidates. Interviews are scheduled for Saturday, 29 June 2024. It is hoped that the selected judges will be ready to take up their seats when the Court begins its new term in October.

The RJLSC appreciates the keen interest of all applicants in contributing to the development of CARICOM and Caribbean jurisprudence.
