Kathmandu, August 16. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli advises not to worry too much about legalizing marijuana cultivation.
While issuing instructions to the Ministry of Industries, Commerce and Supplies and its subordinate agencies, he directed not to give priority to such works which would adversely affect human health and the image of the country.
Prime Minister Oli was briefed on matters related to the industrial sector of the ministry. Following this, he directed that Nepal should give priority to producing mineral products and establishing industries rather than selling raw materials.
He also directed that proper work be done to ensure adequate food supply during the festive season. In directing the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies and its subordinate agencies, he said they should not succumb to the trend of artificially creating food shortages and see only profits and selfishness instead of humanity and professionalism.
“There may be a tendency to make more profits through black market goods like sugar, salt, etc., and those who do this can be held accountable by not allowing the businessmen to do business. There is no agreement on these issues. No tariffs will not work,” the Prime Minister said.
In discussions with Industries Minister Damodar Bhandari, Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal and other secretaries, Prime Minister Oli asked for overall reduction of imports, increase in exports and no import or export of toxic food.
Prime Minister Oli directed that the Nepal Oil Corporation’s Tribhuvan International Airport warehouse and Thanksgiving oil depot, which are located in dangerous locations, be relocated to less populated areas. He also asked for the expedite completion of the extraction of petroleum products from Dheleh.
