Muscat: Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Rowais, former Minister of Information and advisor on cultural affairs to His Majesty the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, died on Sunday.
In a statement, the Ministry of Information mourned the death of Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Rawas on Sunday, August 18, and expressed condolences and sympathy to the family of Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Rawas.
On January 1, 1976, Al-Rovas was appointed Deputy Minister of Media Affairs in the Ministry of Information, and on May 22, 1979, he was appointed Minister of Information and Youth.
In 2001, he was appointed Cultural Affairs Advisor
Al Rovas retired on April 1, 2020, leaving behind a great legacy of service and dedication to the country.
He dedicated his life to preserving the cultural and historical heritage of the Sultanate of Oman.
He served as Chairman of the National Committee for the Preservation of Monuments in Dhofar and carried out restoration and development of historical sites, contributing to the inclusion of many of them in the World Cultural and Natural Heritage List.
