Dbaiba meets with Eni CEO Descalzi to discuss areas of cooperation in Libya

Abdel Hamid Debaiba, Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord, met with Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni, to discuss their mutual interests and cooperation in the fields of energy, renewable energy, circular economy, social projects, access to health and energy, education and vocational training.

The meeting, held in the presence of the new Minister of Oil and Gas, Mohammed ENI, focused on discussing ENI’s activities in Libya, as well as ways to support the Libyan economy and cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, circular economy, social projects, access to health and energy, education and professional training, the GNU press office reported.

Debaiba stressed that Eni needs to invest in health, education, vocational training and electricity and fulfill its social responsibility as a priority in Libya. Descalzi said Eni will fully commit to its operations and projects in the country, focusing on natural gas while reducing the use of high-impact carbon sources.

Eni has been present in the Libyan market since 1959, establishing a joint venture with the Libyan National Oil Company NOC. It is the main natural gas producer in Libya and the main supplier of natural gas to the local market, with an 80% market share.
