Libya Political Dialogue Forum holds second round of voting on list of presidential council and prime minister candidates
Members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum voted this morning on four lists of candidates for the posts of Presidential Council and Prime Minister, which were submitted yesterday and met the necessary support rates stipulated by the electoral mechanism.
The electoral mechanics stipulate that a candidate list must obtain 60% of valid votes to win in the first round of elections. Since no list reached this threshold in the first round of elections, a second round of elections will be held to vote on the two lists that received the highest number of votes in the first round of elections. The threshold for the second round of elections is 50% of valid votes + 1.
The two lists of candidates with the highest number of votes are as follows (in order of the number of votes received):
Listing 4:
- Azila Saleh Quaid (Chairman of the Presidential Council)
- Osama Abdul Salam al-Juwali (member of the Presidential Council);
- Abdul Majid Ghaith Saif al-Nasr (member of the Presidential Council);
- Fathi Ali Abdul Salam Bashaga (Prime Minister)
Listing 3:
- Mohammed Younis Menfi (Chairman of the Presidential Council)
- Mosa Kony (member of the Presidential Council);
- Abdullah Hussein Rafi (member of the Presidential Council);
- Abdul Hamid Mohamed Dbeibah (Prime Minister)
