A delegation from Enterprise Greece, Greece’s official investment agency, arrived in Tripoli yesterday to attend the Libyan International Construction Fair in the Libyan capital and further strengthen bilateral trade relations between the two countries.
The Greek business delegation consists of Costas FragogiannisDeputy Minister of Economic Diplomacy and Openness of Greece include Yiannis SmyrisSecretary General for International Economic Affairs, Professor Yiannis ChrysoulakisSecretary General for Greek Citizens Abroad and Public Diplomacy, and several Greek business people who participated in the Greek business delegation. The visit was co-organized by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs
According to Greek newspapers, TribuneGreek delegation attended the reception in Tripoli Kanakis MandariosPresident of the Benghazi Greek Community, Antonis Kafataris Members of the Greek community in Tripoli, in the presence of the Consul General of Greece in Benghazi, Achilles Lakinas. Professor Ioannis Chrysoulakis described it as “a moving reception by our diaspora in Tripoli, Libya”.
On Sunday, the delegation met with the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Interim Government of National Unity (GNU), Omar Khati, and signed the Greek Enterprises and Libyan Investment Authority (LIA) at the Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli.
The Libyan Investment Authority said in a statement that it hopes to further cooperate with international organizations and institutions to assist international investors in entering the Libyan market.
The statement said the agreement reached with Enterprise Greece will create investment opportunities for both parties, particularly in renewable energy, exchange of industry knowledge, and empowerment and training of Libyan nationals.
The Libyan Investment Authority said: “The MoU also aims to promote and boost Libyan investments in European and international markets. It also aims to encourage investment opportunities in Libya and abroad and benefit from global expertise.”
They also participated in a B2B business forum titled “Let Greece Inspire You” with Libyan entrepreneurs, introducing them to Greek companies in the construction, energy and pharmaceutical sectors.
