Health workers in the country have warned that they will begin a strike at all public hospitals in the country.

This comes as the Malawi Physician Assistants Union said it was unhappy with the government’s failure to increase the amount of the allowance as agreed with officials from the Ministry of Health.
In his speech, Solomon David Jumba said that when the workers started the strike because they were unhappy with the government’s delay in increasing their allowances, the government approached the court for permission to stop the strike.
Chomba said their legal representatives are in the process of lifting the court injunction and if it is lifted, they will resume work in all hospitals.
“I want to tell all Malawians and the government that they are going to see a strike by medical staff in all hospitals in the country, something they have not seen since we are angry,” said Chomba.
They said no health workers would be coming to work at this time and all patients would be told to go to their main office and they were receiving a large allowance to help them.
We tried to talk to the health authorities but it was impossible.
