Lingiari MP Marion Scrymgour MP recently visited the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Marion took time out to meet with Council and Shire staff.
It is heartening to finally have a Member of Parliament come to the Islands to meet with elected members and staff one to one and discuss the issues we face. It is fair to say that Marion is a very astute politician and with her advocating for the Cocos (Keeling) Islands in the halls of Parliament, the future looks bright.
Marion has extended an invitation to Shire Mayors and elected MPs to meet in Canberra in the first week of July. She will be working on arranging meetings with Ministers and Senators so that we can continue to advance our issues with the right people in Canberra.
Thank you very much Marion, we look forward to seeing you in Canberra in July and again in Cocos later in the year.
