Koror Island

Koror is one of the few islands in the world that is not very popular with tourists, but it is just as exotic as other popular picturesque tourist destinations in the world. It is the main commercial center of the Republic of Palau and consists of several islands, of which Koror is the most prominent. The island has only 14,000 people (as of 2004) and its economy mainly depends on tourism.

Those who want to spend some quality time with their family in the embrace of nature and experience the true meaning of “peace” should consider this island as their upcoming travel destination. For those who have already started planning a trip to this exotic island, here is a list of things you must do once you reach this island:

Visit the Balau National Museum

Don’t be fooled by the size. This museum may not be large, but it has a wealth of exhibits on Palauans through the ages, including all types of art, sculptures, photography, storyboards, and many other things to keep you entertained for hours.

Listen to the legend of Mother and Child Stone

Head to the village of Engelmid and hear the tragic story of the Mother and Child Stone. Legend has it that a mother and her child were turned to stone after taking a peek inside a mansion in the village, which was forbidden at the time. The now-defunct Hotel Nikko Palau is widely believed to have closed after guests claimed to have seen the ghosts of Japanese soldiers killed in World War II.

Enjoy underwater life at the Palau Aquarium

After your trip to the eerie Njemid Village, head to the Palau Aquarium to see the vibrant underwater life. Originally part of the Pacific International Coral Reef Center, a Japanese-funded research complex, the aquarium helps people learn about Palau’s coral reef ecosystems and features 17 areas, each with a different habitat theme.

Visit historic Badrulchau

This place has rows of basalt boulders and is located north of Babel Daub. No one knows the origin of these boulders, some of which weigh up to 4,500 kilograms. The hillsides around the area are terraced with pyramid-like steps. Studies have shown that construction took place between 100 and 1600 AD. Sounds mysterious, doesn’t it?

Experience “Silence” at Peleliu Beach

Finally, you’ve arrived at a place that could easily earn the title of the most peaceful place on Earth. People who have been to Peleliu Beach say they often feel like there’s nothing on Earth except the blue waves around them. So be prepared to hear silence.
