On Friday 23 August, the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Justice and Security, led by Ms. Ingrid Michon-Derkzen, paid a working visit to the Fire Service of the Caribbean Netherlands (BKCN). The committee is responsible for evaluating and monitoring policies in the areas of justice and security.
During the visit, the gendarmes met the Commander-in-Chief, the local commanders and the guard duty officers. They watched a demonstration of rescuing trapped victims, visited the scene and learned about the structure and capabilities of the fire brigade. In addition, cooperation with chain partners and the key role played by the fire department in the safety of the Dutch Caribbean community were discussed.
The visit was very important to the fire department as it gave them the opportunity to demonstrate first-hand their working methods, challenges and the critical role they play in island safety.
We stand united in our commitment to the security of the Caribbean Netherlands.
