Seychelles and Cook Islands sign joint communiqué to strengthen bilateral relations to a new level – News – Seychelles National Parliament Building

Antigua and Barbuda, 30^day May 2024: The President of the Republic, Mr. Wavell Ramkalawan, witnessed the signing of the Joint Communiqué establishing diplomatic relations between Seychelles and the Cook Islands. The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the Small Island States Conference (SIDS4) in Antigua and Barbuda, where the leaders of the two small island nations attended along with other Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

During a brief signing ceremony, Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown and Seychelles Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism Sylvester Radegonde signed a joint communiqué aimed at strengthening cooperation between Seychelles and the Cook Islands and promoting exchanges on various issues of mutual interest.

Yesterday’s signing ceremony was the culmination of recent bilateral talks between President Ramkalawan and Prime Minister Brown in Spain in advance of the United Nations Decade for the Ocean in April this year.
