Antigua and Barbuda, May 27, 2024: During the talks, the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Wavell Ramkarvan, held talks with the President of the Marshall Islands, Hilda Heine, yesterday on the sidelines of the Fourth Small Island Developing States Conference (SIDS4). During the talks, the two leaders agreed to further cooperate in key areas of mutual interest and explore new possible areas for strengthening relations between the two island nations.
Topics discussed included existential issues of the climate crisis, such as rising sea levels and severe weather patterns. Both countries were keen to further discuss and exchange short- and long-term climate adaptation strategies, sound climate government policies and initiatives implemented elsewhere, aimed at increasing resilience and reliably achieving sustainable development for the benefit of their peoples.
The two leaders will deliver speeches at the opening ceremony of the Four Small Island Developing States Summit on May 27.
