President Ramkalawan arrives in South Korea for the South Korea-Africa Summit – News – Seychelles National Assembly

Seoul, South Korea Monday, June 3, 2024: Earlier this afternoon, the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan, accompanied by First Lady Linda Ramkalawan and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism Sylvestre Radegone, arrived in Seoul, South Korea, to attend the inaugural 2024 Korea-Africa Summit.

President Ramkalawan was welcomed at Icheon International Airport by Ambassador Kang Seok-hee, Special Representative of the Republic of Korea, and Mr. Dong Zheng, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Seychelles in Korea. Also present at the welcoming ceremony was Ambassador Anne Lafortuyn, Ambassador of the Seychelles to Beijing, China, and Ambassador to Japan and Korea.

Other members of the Seychelles delegation to the Korea-Africa Summit include Mr Jean-François Ferrari, Minister Designate of the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy of Seychelles, Mr Jean-Luc Lelling, Attaché and Director of Tourism at the Embassy of the Republic of Seychelles in Beijing, Ms Marianne Labonte, Senior Economist at the National Planning Department and Ms Ingrid Labrosse, Second Secretary and Official of the Republic of Korea.

The 2024 Korea-Africa Summit, with the theme “The Future We Create Together: Shared Growth, Sustainability and Solidarity,” aims to elevate cooperation between Korea and Africa by bringing together African heads of state and heads of international organizations, as well as key figures from the Korean government community.

President Ramkalawan will address the plenary session of Heads of State of the Conference tomorrow, Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
