News – Pocket Money 2024 – illiwap News from Saint Barthelemy City Hall

The ‘2024 Edition’ pocket money event took place in the town on Monday 8 July 2024 from 9am to 12pm and ended with a traditional barbecue at noon on Friday 19 July, with all volunteers and young people taking part.
This year, the weather did not let us go and disrupted our original itinerary.
Despite this, we were able to achieve most of our plans:
 Manufacture different models of nest boxes and feeders to be installed in the town in spring 2025.
 Painting of the storeroom of the public school “Les Hirondelles”.
 Toilet painting in Kergarlicki.

 Clean the interior walls, pews and chairs of the church
 Cleaning football locker room doors.
 Weeding cemeteries, Parish Hall car parks and around churches, Post Street, rubbish parking lots, around schools, Railway Station Street, La Suchetterie subdivision, Town Hall Street and part of Porter Road.
 Stonework of the road leading to the pond on the Bauder Road side, cleaning of spillway, collection of branches and removal of stones etc.
 Cleaning tables and chairs in Ty Fest Room.
 Participate in cleaning of school canteen.
 Cleaning of the cafeteria, Ty Fest Room and the external framework of the school.
 Cleaning the heat pump wall in the school cafeteria
 A young person’s participation in a morning at ALSH
All of this work was made possible thanks to the participation of a large number of volunteers this year:
Gilles, Fernand, Yvonne, Noel, Jean-Paul, Yanc, Pascal, Bernard, Pierre.
We would like to especially thank them for their tireless efforts, the work they do and the patients they accompany every year. This is an understatement considering the lack of motivation some young people have for the work entrusted to them…

The animation committee will consider another scheme for next year, perhaps a system that is more spread out over the year and requires a greater personal commitment from the young people.
