The Catholic Church has announced that the ordination of the new bishop of Martinique will take place on April 12 at the Stade Pierre Alick in Dillon (Fort-de-France).
He preached during French television’s “Jour du Seigneur” Sunday Mass at St. Dominic Church.
He is due to return to Martinique on Monday, April 7, and will be ordained as an episcopal priest on Sunday, April 12, at the Pierre Alick stadium in Dillon (Fort-de-France), the centre of the Feast of the Divine Mercy of the great diocese. From 1 p.m. to 19 p.m.
The venue can accommodate nearly 20,000 people and is a major celebration that the Martinique Catholic Church is preparing for.
The Fort-de-France Cathedral, currently under construction, will not be able to host the ordination ceremony for the Bishop of Martinique, 46-year-old David Macaire, in the coming years.
He succeeds the 74-year-old Bishop of Melanville, who is about to retire.
