This was his first step as bishop on his home island.

Bishop David Macaire is currently on an official stop in Martinique to meet with the various authorities of the ministry.

The 46-year-old was ordained by the Vatican last weekend, not without surprise and undisguised emotion.

At Martinique’s Aime Cesaire Airport, parish priests and parishioners came to welcome the new president of the Martinique Catholic Church.

David Macaire, ordained a priest in Toulouse in 2001, will officially succeed Monsignor Michel Méranville during his ordination on April 12 at the Fort-de-France Cathedral.
