Five people were rescued from a boat wreck near Vauquelin.
There is no doubt that five passengers on a small boat came close to death this week off the coast of Vauquelin.
When the boat sank in the morning, two of them were rescued by fishermen sailing in the area.
The alarm was immediately raised and three other people were found, fortunately equipped with life jackets.
Civil protection helicopters, the gendarmerie’s maritime brigade and boats from the National Sea Rescue Association intervened to rescue the occupants of the dinghy, which had been found minutes earlier.
The five people were safe and sound, but the county reminded that before any trip, it is important to check whether there is VHF equipment on board, especially to call 196 in case of difficulties at sea.
