Martinique, cyclist serial killer: the governor refuses “fate”

Seven motorcyclists have been killed on the department’s roads since the beginning of the year.

Following a new tragic accident last weekend that killed two two-wheelers, the Governor of Martinique refuses to accept “fate” and calls on everyone to mobilize.

State representatives have decided to tighten road controls to curb the phenomenon.

In addition to these checks carried out daily by law enforcement, coordinated operations are organised every week with a large mobilisation of staff, focusing on controlling speeding and non-wearing of helmets.

Last week, police and gendarmes carried out a check in Fort-de-France and Schölcher, where two motorcycles were impounded for speeding.

One of the vehicles was clocked at 126 km/h instead of the authorized 70 km/h, and the other was clocked at 113 km/h.

Other violations were noted and one motorcyclist fled, endangering his own life as well as the lives of other users and police officers, who are being actively sought.
