The first 2×2 lane bridge across the Lézarde River (Gaigneron Canal) in Lamentin will be open to traffic next Tuesday.

From 5am tomorrow, Tuesday, highway users heading south from Fort-de-France will travel on both lanes of the bridge.

Motorway users heading south towards Fort-de-France will use the transition lane.

Also this week, motorway users heading towards Fort-de-France from the south will also be travelling on both lanes of the bridge from 5am on Thursday.

Traffic diversion efforts will be carried out on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

The track width will be temporarily reduced to 2.50 metres to allow for the second phase of construction to continue.

The resulting infrastructure will prevent flooding of the highway during high water periods.

The bridge will consist of 6 lanes, with a 2X2 lane bridge for motorists and two additional lanes at either end of the structure dedicated to high-level service bus traffic.
