Market demand for postmen increased by 208% in the first half of the year

Job offers on the employment portal MojeDelo remained very high in the first half of this year, but job ads were still a few percentage points lower compared to the same period last year, Styria Digital Market wrote in a press release.

In the first half of the year, the most advertised job on MojeDelo.com was still sales staff, but at the same time this was ten percent less than in the first half of last year. The demand for production workers also fell year-on-year (-15%). Among the most popular occupations, warehouse workers ranked third (+7%) and commercial workers ranked fourth (+15%). The state of Styria summarizes the results, with truck, van and bus drivers ranking fifth among the most popular occupations, up 18% year-on-year.
They point out that from January to the end of June, the demand for postmen increased significantly, up to 208% compared to the same period last year. Occupations with higher demand growth include commission agents (+41%), nurses (+29%), managers (+27%) and drivers (+18%). MojeDelo.com saw the biggest decrease in demand for chefs (-29%), sales consultants (-25%) and waiters (-15%).

Respondents are generally mildly optimistic about unemployment

The study also found that 627 respondents were moderately optimistic about unemployment. Styria explained that more people believe that unemployment will increase in the next 12 months, but this proportion has dropped from 50% to 40% according to last year’s survey.

A quarter of employees are actively looking for a new job, but they mostly only talk about it with their closest relatives. The main reason is the desire for better working conditions, followed by seeking better relationships or work environment and a normal schedule or working hours.

“Compared to previous years’ research, the share of classic reasons for looking for a new job is decreasing, while self-actualization reasons are increasing, such as boredom and the desire for change, siege in the current job, and the desire for a promotion,” The Head of Digital Marketing Strategy for the State of Styria explains Nika Lacognac.

Just under a third (29%) of respondents felt their current job was very secure.

Valicon conducted the survey among 627 people between June 5 and 9. Styria also wrote that the results represent the active population of Slovenia aged 16 to 65, divided by region by sex, age, education level and type of residence.
