According to Anadolu Agency, a bus accident occurred near Ankara, killing at least 9 people and injuring 26. Some local media reported that 11 people were killed. Details of the victims were not yet clear.
According to Anadolu Agency, the bus belonging to Öz Agri Seç Turizm crashed into a bridge on the highway in the early hours of the morning for unknown reasons. The accident occurred at around 05:00 local time (04:00 CEST) on the way from Eskişehir to Ankara.
Ankara Governor Vasip Sahin said there was no sign that the driver had braked at the scene of the accident. According to Sahin, he must have fallen asleep at the time and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
A large number of rescue workers and firefighters rushed to the scene. Photos posted by the Anadolu website showed a completely destroyed bus.
