A powerful storm killed at least two people in Moscow on Thursday, with one man dying after he was trapped under a tree that fell during the storm, according to Russian authorities.

Moscow Times Another person was killed in the storm when scaffolding collapsed in the city center, state media said, while at least 10 people were injured.

A severe storm brought strong winds of about 18-23 meters per second and heavy rain to the Russian capital on Thursday.

Videos of people seeking shelter on Moscow streets circulated on social media as the storm ripped pieces of billboards and building roofs and felled trees.

mayor Sergey Sojanin Authorities issued a weather warning and urged residents to stay indoors after warnings on Wednesday that rare tornadoes were expected in the city, in addition to strong winds and heavy rain.
