Leônidas Oliveira appointed Minister of Culture and Tourism of Minas Gerais – Nação Headquarters

Leônidas Oliveira was appointed on May 13 as the new Secretary of State for Culture and Tourism of Minas Gerais.

Graduated in Architecture and Urban Planning, Master in Restoration and Renovation of Historic Buildings and Urban Heritage, and PhD in Architecture and Urban Planning, Leônidas has served as President of the Belo Horizonte and Belo Tour Cultural Foundation, Interim President of the Brazilian Tourism Company (Embratur), and Executive Director of the National Arts Foundation (FUNARTE).

According to the new Secretary-General,

Its management will be characterized by technical and decentralized action, thinking about results and opening a dialogue with cultural and tourism production chains, unions, councils, sectoral forums, artists, especially popular and traditional culture, and others involved in these two sector chains. Faced with the challenges posed by the pandemic, Leonidas has chosen as his management priority emergency policies and actions for workers in these two sectors, “My focus now is on artists and tourism producers, even for survival. I can’t think about anything else now”, he stressed.
