Isle of Man Government – Independent Living Centres switch to appointment only

The Independent Living Center at Douglas Central Community Health Center (CCHC) will transition from a temporary facility to an appointment-based service starting next month. Wednesday, August 7.

The move from walk-in to appointment-based counselling is intended to help the service provide a more responsive and timely service to those who need it. Appointment-based counselling also provides dedicated time and confidentiality to discuss any issues.

The local therapy service is run by Manx care specialists and helps people find solutions to stay active, safe and independent. The Independent Living Centre also offers people the opportunity to view and try out a range of products. These products include beds, bathroom/toilet and mobility aids as well as mobility and carrying equipment. These products reflect what the therapy service may be able to offer after completing a therapy assessment. Therapy colleagues will indicate local suppliers to individuals where appropriate.

Beginning August 7, 2024, appointments will be available at the Independent Living Center every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Book a 30 minute time slot.

After August 7, 2024, the “walk-in” option will no longer be available and reservations will be required.
