Also in the Caribbean Netherlands, parents of children with intensive care needs will soon be able to receive double child benefit. To this end, Minister for Poverty Policy, Participation and Pensions Schouten today laid out detailed regulations and launched an online consultation.

In the Netherlands, Europe, the scheme has been around for some time and provides parents of children with high care needs (e.g. due to disability or illness) with an additional allowance to cover the costs of intensive care.
The plan is expected to take effect on the 1stEnglish Stone July 2025. To support eligible parents before the scheme is implemented, the Government will provide a one-off payment of $3,879.31. It has already been implemented twice before, in 2022 and 2023. The scheme will be available for online consultation at the same time. When parents will receive this one-off payment will be decided at a later date.
