You may never have thought of fusing artificial BroadCast Unitedligence with pop music, but we did it. South Korean multinational entertainment group HYBE has launched SYNDI8, an AI-generated pop band.
The group has four members: Canary, Nest, Goyo and Raven. The major record company also said they are from the fictional kingdom of Nansy Land.

On June 23, SYNDI8 released his first solo album, MVP, which includes three singles, ATOTA, True Color, and My Fantasy. You can listen to the last single below.
What do we know about AI-generated pop bands?
Mashable said SYNDI8 used AI speech synthesis technology from Supertone, an AI speech technology company, which HYBE acquired for 45 billion won (about 32 billion U.S. dollars).
Supertone calls its technology NANSY (Neural Analysis and Synthesis), which has “exceptional capabilities to design and reassemble speech components.”
In other words, this technology can create artificial speech that imitates the human voice. In addition, Supertone also named the fictional world of SYNDI8 after it.
As mentioned above, the AI-generated pop band consists of Raven, Canary, Nest, and Goyo. The official website describes them as follows:

- Canary She is the daughter of a chief of the Canary Tribe.
- nest She is the daughter of a scientist from the Great Horned Owl Tribe.
- support Being the only human in an AI-generated group.
SYNDI8 faced real-world backlash soon after its virtual debut. Korean cultural news site allkpop said some Koreans suspected the AI-generated pop idol was a “strong reference” to the real-life group aespa.
The Korean pronunciation of “Canary” is similar to “Kanari”, which is similar to the pronunciation of aespa member Kanari. In addition, they also pointed out that Canary’s height and MBTI are both 168 cm and ENFP, the same as Karina.
Other examples of technology and pop music merging
Korean entertainment groups have been incorporating the latest technology into the pop music industry. For example, entertainment company Modhaus launched TripleS, calling it “the first K-pop group to use blockchain technology to vote for real-life artists.”

Sapporo-based Crypton Future Media Inc. debuted the singing voice synthesizer Hatsune Miku on August 31, 2007. Like the AI-generated pop idol, the company depicted Hatsune Miku as an anime girl with long green pigtails.
Crypton says Miku has “released over 100,000 songs, uploaded 170,000 YouTube videos, and created 1,000,000 pieces of art.” Additionally, Miku has sold out 3D concerts in Japan, Taipei, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles.
