This morning, Rutte’s fourth government was sworn in at Nordenberg Palace. The new government is a coalition government composed of the Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic 66 Party, the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Union, and consists of 20 ministers and 9 state secretaries.

The inauguration ceremony, held in the presence of King Willem-Alexander, marked the official start of Rutte’s fourth term as government.
In the new government, the People’s Democratic Party for Liberals and Freedoms (VVD) has 8 ministers and 3 state secretaries, the Democratic Party 66 (D66) has 6 ministers and 3 state secretaries, the Christian Democratic Alliance (CDA) has 4 ministers and 2 state secretaries, and the Christian Union has 2 ministers and 1 state secretary.
Ministries and Ministerial Positions
The cabinet of the fourth Rutte government remained unchanged from the previous one. However, four new cabinet positions were created:
- Minister of Climate and Energy Policy
- Minister for Nature and Nitrogen Policy
- Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning
- Minister for Poverty Policy, Participation and Pensions.
Alliance Agreement
All the plans of the new government are contained in Alliance agreement of December 15, 2021, entitled “Caring for each other and looking to the future”.
First Cabinet Meeting
The new government will hold its first cabinet meeting later today.
