In recent years, with the rapid development of China-Kazakhstan relations, personnel exchanges and cultural exchanges between the two countries have become increasingly frequent. Chinese professionals are becoming more and more popular in Kazakhstan. The Kazakhstan labor market has a strong demand for Chinese professionals, and the Kazakh people are increasingly interested in learning Chinese.
The first batch of Chinese language majors from the Department of Language and Literature of Gumilyov Branch of Eurasian National University of Kazakhstan will graduate in two years. “We believe these students have a bright future,” said Shorpan Zharkinbekova, head of the Department of Language and Literature, in an interview with Chinese reporters.
Sholpan Zalkinbekova introduced that Gumilyev Eurasian National University has a total of 12 colleges with 16,000 students. Among them, the College of Languages and Literature is the largest, mainly training professionals in the field of language and literature.
The department originally focused on training professionals in English, French, German, Italian and other languages. With the increasing demand for Chinese talents in society, the school opened the Chinese Language Department’s Chinese major in 2010, and currently has more than 40 students enrolled.
Solpan Zharkinbekov believes that the first batch of Chinese majors at the Language Institute will be able to easily find jobs in two years. She believes that various ministries and Sino-Kazakh joint ventures can provide suitable jobs for these students.
Duken Massimhanure, member of the National Committee of the President of Kazakhstan and director of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Gumilyov Eurasian National University, said that with the strong support of the Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan, the Department of Language and Literature will open a Chinese Language Experience Center in the near future.
