President Wavel Ramkalawan chaired a Cabinet meeting yesterday (Wednesday, June 12, 2024) to approve a number of laws and policy memoranda.

The Cabinet reiterated the government’s decision to ratify the 2014 Montreal Protocol, which empowers airlines and countries to deal with unruly and disruptive passengers on board.

Cabinet has agreed to compensate visiting Judges of Appeal for the extra time they need to review Court of Appeal cases before arriving in Seychelles.

Cabinet has been told that the issue of accommodation for the growing number of expatriate workers in Seychelles needs to be addressed comprehensively.

The Cabinet considers it necessary to expand the use of the mandatory electronic register to the service sector beyond shops where sales transactions take place.

The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Trade’s proposal to start the process of developing a national BroadCast Unitedlectual property strategy in consultation with all stakeholders.

Cabinet has approved the terms of reference for a proposed independent study into excessive alcohol consumption in Seychelles.

The Cabinet discussed Seychelles’ proposed position in the upcoming negotiations between the European Union and the European Services Agency on the liberalisation of the provision of certain services (to foreign competition).

The relevant ministries will provide detailed information.
