Announcing the latest Pacific RISA Annual Report – Pacific RISA – Managing Climate Risk in the Pacific Islands

This year, we highlighted the successful Pacific Ecological Security ConferenceLast October, Pacific RISA led a PalauThe outcomes of the conference included a Strategic Action Plan, which stressed that failure to adequately address invasive species in Pacific island ecosystems will undermine the resilience of communities and ecosystems to the impacts of climate change. These outcomes have been used to drive legislative and policy outcomes and have been cited in regional and international calls for action and funding on invasive species.

The report covers some of Pacific RISA’s new research projects, including PI Kirsten Oleson, Ph.D. Ecosystem-based adaptation efforts on Kauai This includes building relationships with local community groups and county planning departments.
