Italian foundations could “adopt” up to 20,000 Ukrainian refugees. This project, which will be operational in a few weeks, will make a concrete contribution to the humanitarian catastrophe we are experiencing. This is the proposal made by Romana Liuzzo, official of the Republic and president of the Guido Carli Foundation, on the eve of the award ceremony that will be given to 13 outstanding Italian personalities on May 6.
“Each of the eight thousand non-profit foundations existing in Italy pledges to provide, within a few days, for the daily expenses of a family (usually a mother and two children) who has moved to our country to escape the war that broke out in Ukraine: this could ease the complex daily life of women and children who are already deeply affected by the drama that it left behind. It is enough to contact one of the organizations responsible for solidarity”, President Liuzzo appeals to the leaders of all other Italian foundations.
The idea comes a few days before the celebrations of the thirteenth Guido Carli Prize, scheduled for Friday, May 6, at 5:30 pm in the Petrassi Room of the Parco della Musica Auditorium. We will witness an extraordinary edition, awarded with the Order of the President of the Republic, because it is not only entrepreneurs and economists who are rewarded, but also talents from the world of cinema, sports, diplomacy and the arts. Historic moments require a farsighted vision. After all, Guido Carli, Minister of Finance, signatory of the Maastricht Treaty, President of the Bank of Italy, industrialist president, is an economist, but first of all a humanist, a man of letters and culture; a well-rounded servant of the state.
New members of the jury
The names of the winners are, as always, top secret until the day of the event, even if some news has already leaked: among the great list of thirteen winners will be General Francesco Paolo Figliolo, who during his presidency experienced the anti-war emergency structure Covid and today at the Joint Forces Summit Operational Command; Mariangela Zappia, Italian Ambassador to the United States; Luigi Ferraris, CEO of the State Railways; Alberta Ferretti, stylist and one of the main icons of Italian fashion in the world. The jury has two new members: Monica Maggioni, Director of Tg1, and Aldo Bisio, CEO of Vodafone Italy. The prize will be awarded after selection by an excellent jury chaired by Gianni Letta, Honorary President of the Guido Carli Foundation.
