On 1 January 2024, the population of the Caribbean Netherlands was 30,397. Compared to the previous year, the population grew by 979 people (3%). The main reason for the population growth was a population increase on Bonaire, mainly due to immigration. The population of Saba also grew due to net immigration. However, net immigration was negative in Sint Eustatius. Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports this based on the latest published data.

Bonaire’s population to increase by more than a thousand people by 2023
On 1 January 2024, the population of Bonaire was 25,133, 1,043 more than a year earlier (4%). This was mainly due to far more people arriving than leaving (941), but also partly due to natural population growth (births minus deaths, 98). The number of people born outside the Caribbean Netherlands on Bonaire increased by more than 1,000. This was mainly due to more residents being born in the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Venezuela and the European Netherlands.

The population of St. Eustatius has dropped by 89
On 1 January 2024, St. Eustatius had 3,204 inhabitants, 89 fewer (3%) than on the previous year. This is mainly because more people left the island than settled there. Natural population growth was limited. The number of people born outside the Caribbean Netherlands living on St. Eustatius fell by 65. In particular, there were fewer people born in the European Netherlands, the United States and the Dominican Republic.

Saba population increased by 25
On 1 January 2024, the population of Saba was 2,060. This is 25 more people (1%) than the previous year. More people came to live on the island than left (60). Natural population growth was limited. The number of people born outside the Caribbean Netherlands on Saba increased by more than 34%. These people were mainly people born in Central and South America.
