Prime Minister holds bilateral meeting with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam« Government of Timor-Leste

This state visit marks the 22nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Timor-Leste and Brunei Darussalam. It is also an opportunity to strengthen and promote the good and long-term relations between Timor-Leste and Brunei Darussalam. The overall goal of the visit is to strengthen and further develop bilateral relations and cooperation.

During the meeting, the leaders of the two countries had fruitful dialogues on bilateral issues as well as regional and international issues of common concern. The leaders also agreed to explore cooperation in areas such as higher education and science, health, petroleum and mineral resources, and economic development and investment.

At the end of the talks, the leaders of the two countries jointly attended the signing of the “Agreement on Visa Exemption for Diplomatic, Service and Service Passport Holders of the People’s Republic of China”. With the signing of the agreement, Timor-Leste further strengthens its bilateral relations with Brunei and meets the visa-free requirements within ASEAN member states.

His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, was accompanied by a high-level delegation consisting of the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Home Affairs, Ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department and senior officials.
