He said the plan would focus on occupational health and safety and promote social and economic justice by setting higher labor standards while strengthening the fight against gender-based violence in the workplace.
“I congratulate the Government on passing the Occupational Health and Safety Bill. This achievement marks a policy step forward for the Government in protecting the rights and well-being of workers across the country,” Mr Cooper said.

Because there are reports of sexual harassment in the textile industry that need to be addressed. ?
“Incidents of sexual harassment and violence in the workplace can have a very negative impact…International brands that source from textile mills do not want to be associated with unacceptable practices. If these allegations are not addressed, these brands will withdraw, leading to more job losses.

“I believe that this program we have launched is one of the tools that will allow us to proactively comply with occupational safety and health laws.“The ‘Health and Safety Act…The program is the vehicle for the government to implement the Millennium Challenge Account II agreement and the various programs under the health component of the agreement.”Mr Mokosi added.
