Tribe of Twel wins Band of the Year

Tribe of Twel, which won the title of Band of the Year last year with “Wade in the Water”, won the title again at the 2024 Lucian Carnival. The band was 37 points behind Xuvo Carnival, which came in second with “Alien”. Just 4 Fun took third place with “Rise of a Revolution” and Fuzion Mas took fourth place with “Phantos”.

During a press conference held earlier today by the Carnival Planning and Management Committee to announce the winners, Deputy Police Commissioner Ronald Philippe gave a safety overview of the Carnival, noting that the two-day street parade took place without incident.

Geraina George, director of the Saint Lucia Tourism Board, pointed out that preliminary statistics on the number of tourists for this year’s Carnival reached 18,000, setting a new record for the same period.

This year, the National Parade of Bands will feature 9 bands and the J’Ouvert Parade will feature 7 bands. A more detailed description of the 2024 Lucian Carnival celebrations will be published in the VOICE newspaper this weekend.
