TIM launches program to modernize mobile radio network

The modernization of the mobile phone system in the Republic of San Marino begins with the renewal of the agreement and the commitments made in this context by the TIM Group.

The plan includes different types of interventions aimed at improving the level and quality of the network and creating the conditions for opening up roaming services to other Italian operators.

The first phase of the works started operations at the beginning of this week, with TIM replacing the transmission equipment at the Fiorina station, which represents one of the nerve centres of the network given its location and the high traffic volumes it manages.

In the coming days, similar interventions will be carried out on all other infrastructure currently active in the region, in order to achieve a comprehensive renewal, reinforcement and technological adaptation of the current TIM transmission network.

Furthermore, it is envisaged that analytical monitoring of signal coverage before and after modernization will be carried out in order to effectively assess the new level of service in the area; in addition to this, it will be possible to dispose of network infrastructure that is no longer required.

Once Phase I is complete and effectiveness assessed from a quality perspective, a process will begin to identify areas of interest in order to proceed with the installation of new systems in areas that remain critical.

At the same time, we will establish contacts with the main mobile operators to assess their interest in roaming using the TIM network to ensure continuity of service for our customers in San Marino.

The planned interventions will ensure that the Republic of San Marino provides a high level of services and optimal conditions to encourage the development of the sector in line with the objectives agreed in the Convention Agreement.
