Officer Jose Jimenez stands out for his use of body cameras in his operation, a practice he implemented six years ago.

Officer Jimenez said his 10-year-old daughter helps him edit the videos, which he then uploads to YouTube, with the aim of showing the public the work of the National Police. “It is an indispensable tool. In some places, it is very difficult for people to give you data out of fear, but as police officers, we can only intervene if the person refuses. So, in an audiovisual way, we have documented many cases,” he explained. In addition, he pointed out that the cameras can also prevent false accusations of torture.
In the work in the swamp, Jimenez stressed the need for greater preparedness and support from the authorities. “Some prosecutors seem to disagree with the issue of bathing,” he said. The main problems in South Bañado include domestic violence, noise pollution and drug sales, but robberies usually occur outside the community. Jimenez believes that body cameras are a great opportunity to show the work carried out by the National Police and to increase transparency in its procedures.
