This happened again. The last three speakers on the Political Financing Bill on Tuesday afternoon (July 9) were members of the majority. There were no opposition members on the speakers’ list.
Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun will speak first, followed by Steven Obeegadoo. The Prime Minister will close the debate. Therefore, the elected minority representatives will not participate in the debate in protest, but they will come back to vote to veto the bill.
We recall that an almost similar situation occurred at the end of the budget debate on June 18. The last five speakers were from the majority faction.
