A Toronto man has been found not guilty of setting a woman on fire and killing her on a Toronto bus two years ago.

Ontario Superior Court Justice Maureen Forrestal handed down the sentence in Toronto on Tuesday to Tenzin Norbu, who was charged with first-degree murder in July 2022 after dousing Nima Dolma in lighter fluid and setting her on fire on a bus at Kipling Station, killing the 28-year-old woman.

When the trial opened on Monday, prosecutors and Norbu’s lawyers asked Forrestal to find Norbu not criminally responsible for Dolma’s death, arguing that a “chronic” mental state prevented Norbu from fully understanding what he had done.
