Floodwaters receding as system moves on: Cayman News Service

(CNS) Most roads in Grand Cayman were closed on Monday and reopened on Tuesday as the rainstorm weather system that flooded the Cayman Islands in the past few days has dissipated. Although many parts of the capital are still flooded, schools and businesses are expected to operate normally today.

The Cayman Islands will continue to experience moderate to strong southeasterly winds, rough seas, isolated showers and possible thunder today, with isolated showers lingering over the Cayman Islands area and moving north to northwest.

The Cayman Islands National Weather Service predicts a cloudy sky with a 40% chance of showers and thunder today. Temperatures will rise to the upper 80s. Winds will be from the southeast at 15 to 20 knots. Surface seas will be moderate to heavy with waves 4 to 6 feet. Small craft should exercise caution when navigating on the high seas.

Tonight, the sky will be mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers and thunder. Temperatures will drop into the upper 70s. Winds will be from the southeast at 15 to 20 knots. Seas will be rough with waves 4 to 6 feet. Small craft should use caution when operating in the open ocean.

The CINWS said the chance of rain will decrease by Friday morning.
