Food prices are now roughly the same as last year.
Inflation was 1.3% in June, Statistics Finland reported on Monday, down from 1.5% in May.
The agency said the slowdown was due to more moderate increases in average mortgage rates and cheaper holiday packages to destinations outside the European Union.

“Potato prices have increased by an average of 39 percent, and cabbage prices have increased by 13 percent. On the other hand, the price of fresh fruit has dropped by 3.6 percent compared to May. Coffee prices, which seem to fluctuate every month, increased by 12.8 percent this time,” she explained.
The statistics agency said that while inflation appeared mild, the start of the holiday season had clearly led to higher prices in the services sector.
“For example, long-distance bus fares rose by 7% in one month, international air fares by 8% and ferry fares by 9%. Amusement park ticket prices increased by an average of 7% and holiday cottage rentals by 12%,” Nieminen added.
