A “quasi-acoustic” concert by accordionist Simone Zanchini will take place at Mulini di Canepa on Sunday July 14th at 6pm. This appointment is part of the “Macinare Cultural – Festival of Historic Mills of Emilia-Romagna” project, shared by the ATER Foundation (Emilia-Romagna Theatre Association), AIAMS (Association of the Friends of the Historic Mills of Emilia-Romagna) and the San Marino Cultural Agency.
The initiative aims to enhance the historic mills of the Emilia-Romagna region with theatre, dance and concert performances in the name of “slow” and sustainable tourism.
Simone Zanchini is one of the most interesting and innovative accordionists on the international scene, moving equally at ease between classical, contemporary, jazz and transcultural realms. Zanchini’s solitary performances develop on the borders between these genres, an absolutely creative artistic experience that is different and unpredictable every time.
Moments of improvisation alternate with original compositions by Zanchini himself and works by such great composers as George Gershwin, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Astor Piazzolla, etc., all expertly mixed together by a continuous and always creatively stimulating flow of improvisation, which lasts for approximately seventy minutes of uninterrupted music.
Simone Zanchini develops an intense concert activity with groups from different musical backgrounds. He has performed at the main Italian festivals and events (Umbria Jazz, Time in Jazz – Berchidda, Ravenna Festival, Rossini Opera Festival…) and at the most important international festivals (France, Austria, Germany, England, Holland, USA, Japan…).
He has also collaborated with many internationally renowned musicians from different backgrounds, including: Javier Girotto, Paulo Fresu, Antonello Salis, Bill Evans, and many others.
Since 1999 he has regularly collaborated with the soloists of the Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala in Milan and regularly tours with them all over the world. In addition to his concerts and research activities, Simone Zanchini combines his teaching activities with workshops on accordion and improvisation.
Since 1996, he has released about 20 albums with various record companies.
At the end of the concert, an aperitif of 0 km products will be served with the support of the Consorzio Terra di San Marino, Panificio Zanotti and Monaldi Piadina e Cassoni.
A shuttle service will be available and will depart from Piazza Capicchioni (Santa Mustiola) at 4.45pm.
