New leadership elected at the recent Annual General Meeting (AGM) will lead the organization into its next chapter of growth and development.

Safrea’s newly elected officers are Nathi Gule, Chairperson, Kay Johnstone, Vice Chairperson, and Hush Naidoo, Treasurer.

Portfolio leaders include SASJA representative Mandi Smallhorne, head of professional development Gudrun Kaiser, head of communications Safeeyah Kharsany and head of membership Ntsiki Jacobs.

Supervisory Committee

The Supervisory Committee consists of Adrian Galley (Convenor), Lynne Smit, Raymond Joseph and Whitemore Ngwira.

Working to improve Safrea

Gule, an experienced freelancer based in Swaziland, said his leadership approach is built on the principles of innovation, transparency, accountability, teamwork and good governance ethics.

In a statement following his appointment, Guler thanked the committee members for their active participation and commitment to Safrea’s mission. “I thank each member for their dedication and their willingness to contribute their expertise and services to Safrea.”

He went on to thank the previous Executive Committee team for their contributions during their tenure.

Guler addressed the members of Safrea directly, adding: “I send my best wishes to all of you and wish you all the best in your freelance career. Thank you for entrusting the responsibility to this new team to make Safrea even better.”

The new leadership team will uphold Safrea’s values ​​and work to strengthen support for freelancers across the Southern African region.
