This morning, Wednesday 19 June, a second maturity test was carried out, specific to each address.

Classical High School: “In Praise of Words”. Logos always represents the unique element of human beings compared to all other creatures. The proposed passages express the reflections of two great classical orators: Isocrates, who asked for a passage from Nicocles to be translated from the Greek; and Cicero, who offered an extract from De atore, whose translation, on the contrary, contains a praise for a word spoken by Crassus. Starting from the two passages in which the candidates analyze the similarities and differences, they are asked to trace the synoptic history of the evolution of rhetoric and oratory genres.

Candidates Language High School They played two songs, with a choice of English, French and German.

English: “The Repression of War Experience” in Siegfried Sassoon’s Counterattack and Other Poems (1918).

Through the analysis of a proposed poem of dramatic relevance, candidates are asked to elaborate in the form of a short essay a reflection on the theme of war and the physical and mental suffering caused by conflict.

French: Madame Bovary (1857), Gustave Flaubert

“A man, at least, is free; he can travel through passions and countries, leap barriers, taste the most distant happiness. But a woman is always hindered.” With these words, Emma expressed her desire to have a boy in her womb when she found out she was pregnant.

The proposed French passage provides an opportunity to reflect, from the psychology of the characters, on the differences between men and women in terms of the possibilities of self-determination of their own future.

The work focuses on the guilt felt by generations of Germans born after the fall of Nazism, who must confront the crimes committed by their parents.

Science High School

As always, the math exam consists of two complex questions (focusing on the study of functions) and eight short questions. The main topics tested are integration and differentiation.

Candidates have to solve one of two questions of their choice and four of the eight questions.

Business and Economics High School

Central topics of the second high school examination in corporate economics are the investments and financing required to ensure the economic and social sustainability of companies in the automotive industry, as well as managerial accounting in support of corporate strategic decision-making.

The oral session will begin on Monday, June 24, and will conclude within a week.
