Buckle up and join the annual Algoa FM Walk Against Cancer hosted by Isuzu Motors South Africa.

The event stayed true to its original purpose, which was to raise awareness about cancer.
In 2024, it will raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Foundation of South Africa (Choc), St Bernard’s Hospice in East London and St Francis Hospice in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Over the past 10 years, the event has raised more than R4 million for cancer charities, with participants walking around 8 million steps in support of cancer patients.
For the 26th Algoa FM Walk Against Cancer, it’s all about making an impact together – your participation matters and every step taken, every Rand raised, will make a difference to our beneficiaries this year and provide support to those affected by cancer.
Alfie Jay, Managing Director of Algoa FM, said: “When you’ve supported such a great cause for 26 of your 38 years in the industry, the cause is etched into your DNA. We are passionate about getting the facts out to as many people as possible about early detection and treatment. We’ve had meaningful conversations with fighters, survivors and those who continue to celebrate every step of the way.”
“For Isuzu, this event is more than just a walk, it is an opportunity to take action, celebrate life, honour those lost and bring hope and support to those affected by cancer,” said Billy Tom, President of Isuzu South Africa. “At Isuzu, we are committed to supporting initiatives that address the challenges facing our communities. The Algoa FM Walk Against Cancer resonates deeply with our employees and their families, who participate in record numbers every year.”
Choc East London plans to use the funds raised to upgrade its kitchen and cold storage facilities, which will allow the charity to accept larger quantities of food donations that it is currently unable to accommodate.
“Choc House serves as a beacon of hope, providing a place for families to stay during treatment and helping to ease the financial burden,” said Hedley Lewis, CEO of Choc. “The kitchen is the heart of every home, a place where many experiences are shared and nutritious meals are prepared. Proper nutrition can help children cope with the side effects of cancer treatment and prevent malnutrition and infection.”
Beneficiaries of both hospices will use the funds raised to expand their services to rural areas around the metropolitan areas of Buffalo and Nelson Mandela Bay.
“This year’s event promises to be the biggest yet, calling on the community to walk together in memory of those who have battled cancer and honour those who have lost their lives, a celebration of the courage, determination and hope of cancer patients,” said Lesley Geyer, Marketing Manager at Algoa FM. “Join us in walking, uniting and fighting for the 26th annual Algoa FM Great Walk Against Cancer, which will take place on Saturday 26 October 2024, starting in Gqeberha, East London and George, with online participation available nationwide.”
