SINGAPORE: Several Housing Development Board (HDB) blocks in the Farrer Park area have experienced water supply disruptions due to leaking pipes, national water agency Public Utilities Board (PUB) said on Sunday (Sept 1).
The agency was alerted to a leak at 65 Tessensohn Road, near Yangon Road, at around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Service crews were immediately dispatched to isolate the leak. The agency posted on Facebook on Sunday afternoon that water supply was disrupted in several HDB blocks in the area.
Water tankers were sent to 47 Irving Road, 49 Dorset Road and 9 Gloucester Road to supply water to residents.
On Sunday morning, a source told CNA that water supply was “suddenly interrupted” in areas including Farrer Park Road, Owen Road and Tessensohn Road. Another source said there was “no water” in the Dorset Road area.
The Public Utilities Board said water supply to the affected blocks was restored at 9:15 am and pipeline repair work was underway.
“The leak has caused some damage to Tessensohn Road and we are working with the Land Transport Authority to assess road conditions,” the Public Utilities Authority said, adding that the road has been closed to traffic in both directions.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will update you once the road has reopened.”
The Public Utilities Board (PUB) is investigating the cause of the leak.
Tanjong Pagar MP Alvin Tan said in a Facebook video at about 9.45am that water supply had been restored and “everything is normal”.
