OPAM showcases outstanding performances by people with disabilities

Muscat: The sixth edition of the Oman Para Athletics Games (OPAM) will continue its exciting run of events on December 15-16 at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Al Bashir.

The competition was organized by the Oman Paralympic Committee (OPC) and saw the participation of 150 athletes from the Sultanate of Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Hanin Musbahi of Kuwait Ambition Team won first place in the women’s T20 long jump with a score of 3.54 meters. Amima Barouch of Oman Assessment and Rehabilitation Center won second place with a score of 1.40 meters, while Taif Jabri of Oman Al Tadaman Team won third place with a score of 1.23 meters.

In the men’s T13-T36-T46 long jump competition, OPC’s Taha Harasi won the championship with a score of 4.78 meters, his teammate Hatem Zajali won the runner-up with a score of 4.28 meters, and Qasim Rawashi won the third place with a score of 4.90 meters.

In the men’s shot put F32-F33-F34 group competition, OPC athlete Mohammad Qasmi won the championship with a score of 7 meters, Abdulaziz Kindi of Khawr team of the United Arab Emirates won the runner-up with a score of 7 meters, and OPC athlete Manatani won the third place with a score of 6 meters.

In the men’s T12 long jump, Omani Paralympic athletes took the top three spots. Saqr Qasmi came first with a score of 4.75 metres, Rashid Siaby second with a score of 4.13 metres and Salim Advani third with a score of 3.00 metres.

In the men’s javelin F57 competition, Abdullah Al Dahani from the UAE Korfakan team won the championship with a score of 9.90 meters, Khalifa Al Yahyi from Amanta Daman team won the runner-up with a score of 7.81 meters, and Abdullah Al Mamari from the OPC team won the third place with a score of 6.29 meters.

In the women’s shot put F34-F32 category, Iman Taysir of OPC won first place with a score of 5.13 meters. Thuraya al Zaabi from the UAE Al Thiqa team won second place with a score of 4.80 meters, while Fadia al Munji of OPC won third place with a score of 2.72 meters.

Suleiman Abdullah of Kuwait Ambition Team won the men’s 100m T20 title with a time of 13.72 seconds. His teammate Tamer Ali came in second with a time of 14.55 seconds, and Saudi Arabia’s Muhannad Al Ghafeli came in third with a time of 17.60 seconds.

In the men’s 400m T12-T36-T47 category, Omani Paralympic athletes took the top three places. Saif Magbali won first place with a time of 55.71 seconds, Saqr Qasmi won second place with a time of 56.14 seconds, and Hatem Zajali won third place with a time of 1:05.93.

In the men’s javelin F33-F34 competition, Abdulaziz Kindi from Korfakan team won the championship with a score of 21.95 meters, Omani athlete Sultan Sinani won the runner-up with a score of 15.60 meters, and Saudi athlete Ahmed Hujaili won the third place with a score of 7.63 meters.

In the blind javelin F11-F12 category, Omani athlete Amar Kalbbani won the gold medal with a score of 12.75 meters.

In the men’s javelin F57 competition, Abdullah Duhani from Korfakan team won the championship with a score of 23 meters, Omani athlete Ali Gassani won the runner-up with a score of 22.50 meters, and Omani athlete Jassim Baroush won the third place with a score of 15.90 meters.

In the men’s shot put F36-F37 category, OPC’s Ammar al Shibli won the championship with a score of 6.94 meters. Saudi athlete Sari al Jahani came in second with a score of 4.76 meters, and Nasser al Makhmari of Al Khabourah team came in third with a score of 4.71 meters.

In the women’s shot put F40-F46 category, Maryam al Ziyoudi from Khor Fakan team won first place with a score of 7.91 meters. Her teammate Mariam al Matroushi won second place with a score of 8.86 meters, and Omani athlete Sara al Amboori won third place with a score of 4.57 meters.

Shama Mazmi of the UAE’s Altika team won the women’s shot put F31-F32 category championship with a score of 12.49 meters. Omani athlete Fatma Hadi from the Oman Rehabilitation Center won the second place with a score of 6.10 meters.

In the blind women’s shot put F12-F13-F20 competition, Fatma Kubali of the UAE’s Altika team won the championship with a score of 4.14 meters, Saudi athlete Ahram Habib won the runner-up with a score of 2.66 meters, and Omani athlete Taif Jabri won the third place with a score of 2.57 meters.
