August 24 forum will focus on sports development and athletic capacity building

The Saint Lucia Athletes’ Commission (SLAC), in partnership with the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC), is pleased to announce the National Athletes’ Forum It will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024. The forum will be held in the Bel Jou Hotel Meeting Room from 9 am to 3 pm
This year’s forum, themed “Empowering Excellence: Strategies for Capacity Building in Sport and Athletes,” aims to enhance the knowledge and development of Saint Lucian athletes by providing valuable insights into a range of topics that are critical to their growth and success.
The main highlights of the forum include:
• The Role of the Athletes’ Commission: Explore how the Athletes’ Commission can better serve and represent the interests of athletes.
• Mental Health: Addressing mental health issues and developing strategies to support athletes in maintaining optimal mental health.
• Safeguarding: Ensuring the safety of athletes in sporting environments.
• Career Development and Transition: Provide guidance on career planning and transition from active competition to new career paths.
• Anti-Doping: Providing updated information and education on anti-doping rules to ensure fair competition.
• Olympic Day Events: Celebrate Olympic Day and learn about the significance of Olympic Day in the local and global sports community.
• Interactive sessions and discussions: Roundtable discussions on athlete mentoring, community engagement, volunteering, life skills development, Athlete365 and Future Forum topics.
Attendees will gain insights from expert speakers, participate in lively discussions, and network with other stakeholders from the sports community.
