this Medieval EraThis year, in its 27th edition, will once again animate the streets and areas of the historic centre of the Republic of San Marino on 26, 27 and 28 July.
From 4:30 pm on Friday 26 July until late in the evening, the centre of San Marino, a UNESCO World Heritage site, will be transformed into an authentic medieval village, offering visitors a unique medieval experience.
The 2024 edition represents a true celebration of San Marino’s rich and important history, returning every year to relive the medieval atmosphere.
The route of the historic center of San Marino will be a real journey through time, exploring such a fascinating and distant historical era: during the three days of the event, the districts, squares and most characteristic places of San Marino’s history will come alive with performances by clowns, musicians and extras. Visitors arriving at Titan will be able to see demonstrations of arts, crafts and artisans, the art of divination by fortune tellers and performances by historical groups from Italy and Europe.
Protagonists and hosts of the show will be the historic San Marino groups who will fascinate the public over three days with authentic and captivating performances on the natural stage of the historic center of San Marino.
The first Guaita TowerWith free admission from 4.30pm to 11.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 11.00pm on Sundays until July 28, paintings of medieval life by historical groups I Fanciulli e la Corte di Olnano and Compagnia dell’Istrice will come alive, while Piazzale Domus Plebis will be transformed into the headquarters of La Cerna dei Lunghi Archi e dei Barattieri (San Marino Historical Games Association).
Crossbow Quarry In the afternoons, there will be a real shooting range here, together with the San Marino Crossbowmen’s Federation, for those who want to try the art of shooting with a “Manesca” (small crossbow), while in the evenings it will become the scene of fascinating shows and performances able to transmit to the public an evocative atmosphere of the Middle Ages:
Friday, July 26 Historical carnival parades, stilt shows by the Wagonert Theater and enchanting music by the historical band Fanfarenzug Otteinrich from Neuburg an der Donau, Germany, will take turns.
Saturday, July 27 It is the turn of the flag bearers of “Le Barnos”, San Sepolcro and La Cerna dei Lunghi Archi. The evening will end with a performance by the historic band Fanfarenzug Otteinrich.
Sunday, July 28 The Tricorniolo Challenge will return, the traditional crossbow shooting competition between Lucca, Massa Marittima, Pisa (Porta San Marco), Volterra and the Republic of San Marino.

The medieval period is also an opportunity to visit Crossbowmen MuseumThrough an exhibition of memorabilia, memories, awards and costumes, visitors will be able to learn about the fascinating history of the San Marino Crossbowmen’s Federation. The museum is located in Contrada Omerelli 51 and will be open to the public every day of the event from 11:00 to 11:30 and 12:00 to 12:30, and on Saturday 27 July from 16:30 to 18:45 and 20:00 to 22:30.
